ITSOSENG FOR THE AGED RECEIVED AN EARLY WOMENS DAY CELEBRATION PRESENTS FROM MEC MOTLHABANE

Just two days before the National Women’s Day celebration, that will be held in Kimberly on the 9th of August 2017, the MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Dr Mpho Motlhabane, went on to fulfil the long standing promise he made to the aged women of Ngobi village.

The aged women had asked the MEC to donate a soccer kit and equipment to their team. This team has been representing the province in various games around the country.

The MEC then requested donations from some of the business partners and stakeholders working with the department. To which a positive response was received from Aganang Consulting Engineers and Vilot RCL Transport.

The Itsoseng for the Aged team was overjoyed and grateful for the kindness extended to them by the department and its benefactor.

The ladies soccer team called Itsoseng for the Aged was started in 2010. It started with only 16 members, and it has been growing bigger and stronger every year. It now boasts a total of 33 members, of which few are elderly men and a majority are women aged between 45 to 86 years old.

This clearly shows that age is just but a number. But equally demonstrates the fact that active-lifestyle-living is possible and can make one live longer.

The captain of the team Nkoko Annah Maleshane Malebye thanked the MEC for the generous donation. ‘’Thank you Dr Motlhabane, we are very grateful. Having these resources will enable us to perform even greater and stress no more about the things we need for the team. You have reduced our stress levels very seriously’’.

The MEC who was overwhelmed with this gratitude and went on to encouraged the elders to motivate the youth and young adults as he said: ‘’I hope our youngsters can learn a thing a two from you.
Living an active lifestyle like this helps reduce our forced visits to the clinics, hospitals and to the doctors. I heard some of the club members say they are not taking any medication, whatsoever. This shows that an active body is possible and less expensive''.

My office is worried about sporadic taxi conflicts in general and we are monitoring and intervening in all reported cases. We cannot afford another simmering tension affecting the public transport, especially the Taxi industry which we could face, if not careful. We will not fold our arms and do nothing."

Itsoseng for the Aged team must commit to continue to practice and train harder in order to represent our province well. I thank you for talking to me about the donation and in the same breath, I also like to thank the people who donated the soccer kit and equipment, Aganang Consulting Engineers for their good-heartedness. We came here proudly to come and fulfil your promise and the smile we see in your faces and heart will remain a proud moment for all of us’’. Concluded the MEC.
