The Department of Human Settlements has done it again. This time the department handed over three houses in Lokaleng village outside Taung,
to families lead by elderly women that have been staying in shacks. The Department has thus fur managed to complete 120 houses and continues to build 880 across villages in the Taung local municipality.

The North West Department of Human Settlements confirms that the first phase of the 103 constructed houses for the Deelpan residents in the Tswaing Local Municipality has been completed.
Departmental Spokesperson; Ms Dineo Lolokwane said the houses are part of government’s integrated efforts to restoring and rebuilding Deelpan after it was engulfed by heavy rainfalls resulting in over 75% of the village being submerged in water.

MILLIONS SET ASIDE TO ERADICATE MUD HOUSES ON THE NORTH WEST PROVINCE

A total budget of R198 million has been allocated to eradicate 1 356 mud houses in the North West Province, with 579 of these units already delivered. This was announced by North West Acting Premier, Patrick Dumile Nono Maloyi when he delivered the State of the Province Address on Tuesday, 20th February 2024 at the North West Provincial Legislature.

The MEC for Corporative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Patrick Dumile Nono Maloyi has learned with sadness the passing of one of the beneficiaries of the Alternative Building Technology (ABT) houses at Madibogopan, Ratlou Local Municipality. Ms Sophy April sadly passed on last week Tuesday, 28 November 2023.
Ms Sophy April is one of the beneficiaries who received keys to her newly built house barely two (2) weeks ago when the MEC visited the area.

THE APRIL FAMILY RECEIVES AN ABT HOUSE

The April Family in Madibogopan in the Ratlou local municipality recently celebrated with tears as they received keys to their house which was built by a philanthropist.
The house, which is one of the few to be built through Alternative building technology in the province has brought a serious relieve to the family as they have been living in a one roomed mud house, extended with another one roomed shack.

NW GOVERNMENT WINNING AGAINST HOUSING BLOCKED PROJECTS

The Human Settlements Sector will soon have a revised framework to guide municipalities' administration of national housing programmes.
The Revised Accreditation Framework for Municipalities to Administer National Housing Programmes (2023), will ensure municipalities' progressive capacitation to perform the delegated functions, without compromising delivery capacity in the short term. The framework received resounding support and was approved on Friday (15 September 2023), following a presentation tabled at the meeting between the Human Settlements Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi, Deputy Minister Pam Tshwete and provincial MECs of Human Settlements (MINMEC)

ABT BEAR FRUITS DURING MANDELA DAY

For over three years, Bakang Mahlangu stayed in a dilapidated shack. During rainy seasons, the roof would leak and the shack would also get waterlogged. This was a difficult period in his life. Mahlangu is the only surviving member of his family.On Mandela Day, his life changed for the better when the Acting Premier of the North West Province, Patrick Dumile Nono Maloyi, handed over a newly built house in Chaneng Village in the Rustenburg Local Municipality. Rustenburg: MEC for the Department of Human Settlements in the North West Nono Maloyi, confirmed to the residents of YizoYizo informal settlement in Rustenburg that their settlement will be upgraded and that they will get services. MEC Maloyi’s confirmation was made during a meeting with more than 200 residents of Yizoyizo.
It is estimates that there might be over a thousand families living in the informal settlement that is located next to the industrial area in Tlhabane location.
