CIDB UNVEILS THEIR NEW LOGO AND BRANDING.

Date: Thursday, October 24, 2013

The Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport in partnership with the Construction Industry Development Board (cidb) unveiled the North West cidb provincial office logo and branding on the 24th of October 2013.
Bafana Ndendwa, the cidb Chairman of the board explained the purpose of the event which he said was to launch the new and improved brand  and also to clarify the role of the cidb. This was to address the misunderstandings  between the cidb and the Construction Contact Centre . "Until now the cidb provincial offices have been known as the Construction Contact Centres, a branding that was created to symbolise the partnership with Public Works and to embraces the different identities. That is why we are re-branding this office to be known simply as the cidb provincial office which bears the cidb colours and logo" , said Ndendwa.
Ndendwa said the aim of these offices is to bring cidb services closer to stakeholders. He said it is encouraging that contractors no longer have to travel long distances to Pretoria just to lodge an application for registration. He also confirmed that this is a service that is now available in cidb Provincial Office.
Ndendwa encouraged stakeholders to take advantage of liaison meeting in each province which take place between January and March. He said these help to build dialogue between cidb and the industry.

Makgothi Thobakgale, Head of the Department said although the new cidb Provincial Office will be able to assist contractors on cidb grading 1, the office will require much more resources to be able to extend this convenience to contractors in Grade 2 to 9.
Thobakgale said that this came at the right time during Transport Month, where transport safety is dependent on the state of roads. He also outlined that there are two main important themes about transport month which are: firstly, to make it a point to provide roads that are safe and trafficable, secondly, is to make sure that the public and private transport systems
that people utilise are safe and comfortable and they get them to where they want to be on time.
He further highlighted the programmes that the department has embarked on to develop skills amongst contractors and to assist candidate engineers to become professionals in their field.
"We urge contractors and engineers  to apply for the Contractor Development  Programme and Engineering Programme respectively, which the department  will advertise in due course," said Thobakgale.
