North West Department of Social Development has invested more R18 million in empowering rural young people with civil construction and farming skills through the implementation of National Youth Service Programme, Acting MEC Fenny Gaolaolwe said on Tuesday.

It took the Department of Social Development five solid years to train 775 unemployed youth in building and civil construction, enterprise development, end user computing and mixed farming, MEC Kgakagamatso Nkewu said in a prepared speech at the fourth certification ceremony of National Youth Service programme held in the capital Mahikeng on Thursday.
