The Mogale family celebrates their new homes to soothe pain [06 October 2016]

Delight coupled with celebrations was brought back to the family of Mogale after the devastating shack fire which claimed the lives of six (6) family members few months ago. Department to unblock social housing project in Mahikeng [03 March 2015]

In what has been described as �taking the bull by its horns� the Bokone-Bophirima Department of Local Government and Human Settlements has terminated the contracts of poor performing housing developers in the province. This happened when the department held One-on-One Contract Review Sessions with developers in all four districts. The objective of the contracts review sessions is meant to monitor and evaluate performance of contractors and get the first hand information from the developers themselves about projects that have stalled and those that have not met deadlines, with a view of unblocking all bottlenecks and speeding-up housing provision in the province. The North West Provincial Government is shocked by the untimely death of Ms Hlokwana Lina Mahlalela. The 109 year old Mahlalela died on Monday at her home in Rankelenyane village outside Rustenburg. At the time of her untimely death, the Provincial Government has already contracted a foundation to build her a house following news paper article which was published by Sowetan which highlighted unbearable and hazardous conditions she was living in. Thanks to the North West provincial Government for taking the initiative to build a house for the elderly woman who is still in her good memory about her past. Another Human Settlements Senior official suspended

The recently launched investigations on allegations of misconduct in the North West Department of Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison, Human Settlements Branch has led to the suspension of another senior manager in the Department.

Housing Development Chief Director, Mr Ndoda Mgengo was suspended with immediate effect from August 13, 2012. His suspension came just a week after the Head of Department (HoD), Mr Thupi Mokhatla�s suspension following the said allegations. [read more]


8 Arrested for Drunken Driving

Eight drivers were arrested for drunken driving and 16 unlicensed vehicles were impounded for unroadworthiness by traffic authorities in a special joint operation between the North West Traffic Authorities and South African Police Service (SAPS).

A lady driver was amongst those arrested during the operation that mainly focused on drunken driving on Friday night. They have been detained at different police stations and will appear in court on Monday, 09, 2012. [read more]


17 Die on the R24 and N4 Road Crushes

MEC for Human Settlements Public Safety and Liaison Nono Maloyi has expressed concern over the increasing number of deaths on the main roads of the province. The concern follows the death of 17 people over the past weekend, in three separate accidents in the Bojanala District alone.

Two of the accidents happened on the N4 and the third one on the R24, 25 km outside Rustenburg towards Magaliesburg. According to Police and traffic officials all three accidents were head on collision and it appears that speed was the main course. [read more]
