Sound financial management vital to effective service delivery; Modiselle

We are gathered today in this grand edifice of the Mmabatho Convention Centre to launch the Second Phase of the Financial Management Training Project. This historic launch takes place a few weeks after we have delivered our landmark Provincial Budget Speech on the 04th March 2008.

"Madam Speaker. The global economy has entered 2008 saddled with the ongoing volatility and vulnerabilities of the aftermath of the US sub-prime phenomenon. Whereas a year ago, the official estimates of the losses caused by the sub-prime housing finance was estimated at less than US$ 100 billion, as of now the reported losses to the financial sector alone exceed US$ 600 billion.
