MEC MOTLHABANE ENDS MANDELA MONTH BY HANDING OUT GIFTS TO DEAF WOLMARANSTADT LEARNERS WHO CHEERISHED THIS RARE GESTURE

As Mandela month comes to an end, MEC Dr Mokgantsang Motlhabane spent his quality time with learners, teachers and School Governing Body members of Wolmaranstadt Hoerskool Hostel for the Deaf on Friday, 27 July 2018. Whilst MEC Motlhabane handed out sanitary towels to all girl children, toiletry items to all boys and Road Safety goodie bags to all learners after a short formal address to the school community. The table tennis board donation took centre stage as the learners immediately took turns playing after it was successfully assembled, to showcase their thirst for the game.

"Make Everyday a Mandela day and 'Be The Legacy’ was the' slogan for the day. This provides a unique opportunity for people around the globe, particularly South Africans to reflect on his life and times in doing good and help the less fortunate in practical. The truth is that learners are more vulnerable as they travel to and from schools daily. Some of whom travel on foot to our busy roads." MEC emphasised.

"Sport and games foster good relationships, a healthy body is a reservoir of positive energy, its everyone’s task to give a helping hand especially to those who are less fortunate due to their disability". conclude MEC Motlhabane.

Chairperson of the School Governing Body Mrs Tlholoe was thrilled and burst into tears of joy, thanking MEC, Dr. Mpho Motlhabane and the management of the Department for their efforts in spending time and giving much needed donations and Mandela Month presents to the school. The House Mother appreciated this gesture and congratulated the MEC for this rare act of goodwill.

Learners expressed their gratitude too and rendered wonderful songs for which the MEC joined in and danced along. The Learner Representative Chairperson expressed words of appreciation.
