Department Conducts Women Driving Skills Competition to Enhance Road Safety Among Women Drivers, as a Women's Month Celebration Activity

The North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management will, as a way of continuing the August, Women's Month, celebrations in 2019, embark on a Women Driving Skills Competition to enhance road safety for women drivers.

Through this competition, the Department seeks to pursue women to play a major role in influencing the attitude and behaviour of motorists, passengers and communities using our roads. And is set to take place in all the four Districts of the North West Province.

The ‘do's and don’ts’ of driving will be honed on the day as the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management offers the lady drivers an opportunity to showcase the safe driving skills and road safety awareness alertness.

“Women can play a vital role in increasing road safety, and through this programme we will ultimately minimise the factors leading to road fatalities in the Province and the Country at large.” Said MEC Lehari.

More than 200 women between ages of 18 and 55 from different sectors such as government, State Own Entities, Private Transport companies and public transport are expected to participate on a competition that has been designed with five specific skills.

The 2019 Lady Driver Skills Enhancement Competition will be held follows:

1. Dr Kenneth Kaunda District – Wolmaranstad Testing Centre – 16 August 2019 @ 08H00
2. Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality – Mahikeng Testing Centre – 23 August 2019 @ 08H00
3. Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District – Ganyesa Testing Ground – 28 August 2019 @ 08H00
4. Bojanala Platinum District – Rustenburg Testing Centre – 30 August 2019 @ 08H00
