MEC Motlhabane Condemns Rampant Business Robbery Where at RTMC Chair Adv Majavu Got Shot at

North West MEC Motlhabane for Community Safety and Transport Management has learned with shock and disbelief the reports that Adv Zola Majavu was shot at as he walked into a business robbery where he was a patron.

Adv Majavu is the sitting Chairperson of the Road Traffic Management Corporation board. The board is under the auspices of shareholder Task Team for the department of Transport which MEC Motlhabane chairs on behalf of the Minister for Transport.

Advocate Majavu recently accompanied the former Minister of Transport to Potchefstroom and issued a very stern warning to motorists who flagrantly disrespect law enforcement officials. The minister was attending a court appearance of a motorist who was rude remarks and was uncooperative to the officer. The motorist and his accomplice continued to insulting the hapless officer as well as threatened to kill him with his bare hands. The only sin of the traffic officer was to request that the motorist should give him his physical address instead of the postal address.

The RTMC under Majavu oversees road traffic management policy formulation, monitors implementation, offers strategic and technical support to provincial departments and municipalities.

MEC Motlhabane wishes Adv Majavu a speedy recovery and in the same vein requested the South African Police Service (SAPS) to speedily act and crack the so that they bring these would-be-killers to book. Apparently the thugs got off with cash, expensive liquor, patrons cell phones and wallets.

"This unwarranted incident happens at a time when our main focus, as the Transport departments and RTMC, is the Easter Road Safety Arrive Alive campaigns. So far North West has recorded the lowest number of crashes and fatalities. Surely an attack on business and especially its patrons is a clear sign that criminals continue on a rampage almost with impunity;" concluded MEC Motlhabane.
