ROAD ACCIDENT KILLS FIVE FOREIGN NATIONALS.

On Saturday 16 December 2017 a Toyota Land Cruiser and VW Polo collided head-on, on N14 road between Delareyville and Vryburg. It is alleged that the Land Cruiser was travelling from Vryburg to Delareyville while the Polo was traveling from Delareyville to Vryburg when the two collided and Land Cruiser caught fire. Four (4) occupants in the Polo died instantly at the accident scene and the fifth one died on Sunday 17 December in Joe Morolong Hospital at Vryburg. The deceased are all foreign nationals from Ethopia and between the age of 31 and 54.

Three (3) occupants of the Land Cruiser originating in Namibia sustained serious injuries and they are hospitalised in Vryburg, Joe Morolong Hospital. A case of Culpable Homicide is being investigated by the Police.

The MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Dr Mpho Motlhabane is saddened by the loss of lives and send his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the loved ones for this tragic accident. The Department also wishes them all the strength during this difficult time and a speedy recovery to those who sustained serious injuries. The Department urge road users to be cautious when overtaking , adhere to the speed limit and to be vigilant at all times.
