MEC Motlhabane Officially Launches the 2017 Provincial October Transport Month

On an annual basis the National Department of Transport and the Community Safety and Transport Management holds the National and Provincial October Transport Month Launch respectively.

The October Transport Month Campaign is an annual feature on the calendar of the Department of Transport and is one of the platforms and vehicles through which the department engages directly with stakeholders. The month was officially launched in October 2005, to raise awareness of the important role of transport in the economy, and to invite participation from civic society and business, in providing a safer, more affordable, accessible and reliable transport system for the community.

Transport, by the way influences the economy positively in many ways as it impacts on the efficiency of business operations and labour mobility. The ordinary citizens of Bokone Bophirima, mostly located in the VTSD too stand to benefit from the socio-economic spinoff hence its safety, reliability, affordability and provision must always be guaranteed.

Invited to the Official Launch are; District and Local Municipality Mayor; Cllr Makolomakoa and Cllr Diakanyo, faith based organisation, RTMC, SAPS, Municipality's Traffic and Disaster units as well officials of the department.

The event will be held on Friday, 13th October 2017 as follows;

• Briefing session : 07H00 at Tirelo Building, MEC's Boardroom

• Road Cleansing :07h30 - Zeerust road, next to the bridge

:08h00 - Ramatlabama road, near SANDF Village

:08h45 - Vryburg road at Makhubung, near Public Works

:09h30 - Lichtenburg road, near the newly built Hospital

• Show of Force: 10H00 - the Motorcade will begin from the new Bophelong Psychiatric Hospital, proceed through Mahikeng CBD pass the Crossing Mall, turn at Mmabatho Palms junction, proceed to SABC junction and turn to convention centre, then reach Mmabatho Stadium parking next to the Department of Public Works and Roads.

• Formal Proceedings are scheduled to start at 11h00, at the Mmabatho Stadium Parking.
