IMEC Motlhabane to Officiate Provincial SANWIT Elective Conference

The Bokone Bophirima Community Safety and Transport Management MEC will, on Monday, 14 August 2017, officiate an elective conference of the South African Network for Women in Transport (SANWIT), which is scheduled to take place.

The conference is set to elect the provincial leadership of the structure which will represent the province during the national elective conference.

This follows the resolution taken by the MinMec of the Department of Transport in May this year that mandates all Provincial Departments to support these election processes which would culminate with the National Elective Conference that is scheduled for later this month of August 2017.

In October 2008, the National Department of Transport (DOT) officially launched SANWIT for women in the transport sector to use to network. This was followed by establishment and launch of Provincial structures as required by SANWIT constitution. Provincial Chapters are forums operating as subsidiaries which contribute and support SANWIT at national level.

The main objective of SANWIT is to create an umbrella body for women in an attempt to advance empowerment and transformation of women in the transport sector.

Members of the media are therefore invited to cover the conference which is scheduled as follows:-

Date: Monday, 14 August 2017
Time: 08:00
Venue: Mmabana Taung
