MEC Motlhabane to lead 1000 delegates on dialogue against Gender Based violence in Ganyesa

As part of the 16 days of activist for no violence against women and children, the Community Safety and Transport Management MEC, Dr Mpho Motlhabane will launch the Dialogue on Gender Based Violence and Protection of Vulnerable Groups.

The launch is set as an official opening of District Dialogues, which are scheduled as build-ups for the Provincial Dialogue that will take place during the February Safety Month.

The Departmental MEC Motlhabane says the dialogue is informed by the escalating number of gender based violence in the North West Province especially against women and children.

“The Province has in recent times seen an increase in incidents of Femicide, Domestic violence, Rape, Child murders and Sexual Offences, therefore, we need to consult with all our internal and external stakeholders and implement our saamtrek-saamwerk philosophy to defeat these illnesses in our communities,” says Motlhabane.

During the launch, MEC will further install and hand over safety household and pocket gadgets to identified families of rape victims, child and elderly headed families and those of domestic violence victims.

Members of the media are therefore invited to be part of the event which will be held as follows:

Date: Saturday, 09 December 2017
