“WE CAN BEAT THIS DISEASE WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER”, SAYS MEC LEHARI

The MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Sello Lehari led senior management to the disinfecting of the taxi ranks and Provincial Traffic offices in Brits.

Accompanied by Madibeng Community Safety MMC, Mr Marcus Machete, MEC Lehari implored taxi operators to comply with the loading guidelines.

“We can beat this disease (virus) when we work together. Comply with loading regulations and observe social and physical distancing”, said MEC Lehari who also paid tribute to North West SANTACO Provincial Secretary, Mr Velakhe Naphakade who passed on last week.

“Mr Naphakade was instrumental in the preparations for the first-ever Provincial Taxi Lekgotla which was, unfortunately, deferred due to COVID-19 pandemic". Said Lehari.

The process of disinfecting taxi ranks follows the distribution of the PPE's to Taxi operators, which began in April 2020.

MEC led the disinfecting of the Pretoria and Berens taxi ranks in the Brits CBD as well proceeded with the disinfection at the Madibeng Provincial Traffic Offices.

"This disinfection program will continue for the next five months period". Committed MEC Lehari.

Shortly afterward, MEC Lehari conducted an unannounced visit at the Brits Police Station to monitor compliance with Covid-19 regulations by SAPS and community members.
