Planting trees for economic and environmental benefits

Shaleng – People need to know that trees are a valuable resource providing both environmental and economic benefits. BIRD FLU CASE REPORTED IN THE RUSTENBURG AREA

There has been an outbreak of High Pathogenic Avian Influenza (H5N8) or Bird Flu in domesticated wild birds in Rustenburg, around the Bo-dorp residential area. The North West Department of Rural, Environment and Agricultural Development (READ) would like to confirm that no farm in the North West province has been affected by the outbreak of Avian Infuenza, a viral disease of chickens which was detected in Mpumalanga during the first week of July 2017. All suspected cases of mortalities that were experienced in the province have been ruled out as having been by other causes other than Avian Influenza. 39 government trained Field Rangers placed for jobs within North West Parks Board

Mahikeng: The North West Parks Board (NWPB) an entity of the Department of Rural, Environment and Agricultural Development (READ) has appointed and placed 39 Field Rangers at various Parks within the Bokone Bophirima Province as part of the Skills Development Programme. The Field Rangers who have graduated in February this year are young people mainly coming from areas near and adjacent the 15 Game Reserves managed by the Board.
